changing oil, low milage car, what would you use?Is mobile 1 oil best for my car?
The honest truth in my eyes is that the brand isn't as important as the weight. Personally I use the Napa brand. As long as your car is under warranty be sure you use the recommended weight so they don't panic when you take it in for service. Once you're out of warranty I'd recommend either a 15W-40 or 20W-50 oil. You'll loose about a half a mile per gallon when your engine is cold, but you'll get much better start up protection. Running a heavy oil is just like using the 5W-30 with some STP oil additive. . . I'm sure Mobile 1 will be fineIs mobile 1 oil best for my car?
If you have a low mileage engine, I would suggest changing to a synthetic motor oil. I would wait until you have about 10,000 miles on the car to make sure it is broken-in.
Any synthetic is good, so don't go to Mobil just for the name. You can get less expensive synthetics.
You may be able to increase the time between changes as well, but do not go beyond what the manufacturer recommends in the owners manual for your type of driving.
Best of luck to you.
