What is the best synthetic car oil?

I ask this question because I currently own a 2003 Ford Mustang GT 5-speed that I get free oil changes on at a dealership, and they use conventional oil. I notice that I'm down a quart at about every 2500 miles.

I drive on the rough side and have done some research and found AMSoil, Mobil1, Royal Purple, and RedLine to be amung the best.

Is there anyone out there that has done more of a study to find any synthetic oil to be the best? What is the best synthetic car oil?
check out www.bobistheoilguy.com There is a message board on there that could literally keep you reading for weeks on end. Site is loaded with chemical and petroleum engineers, others in the industry, die hard hobbyists etc etc.

Generally, Amsoil is Regarded as one of the best. Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol are all good. One thing you will learn, is that almost any modern day oil is a great oil. The site will explain the different types of synthetics, different additive packages in each oil etc etc. Not all synthetics are ideal for a specific application, so there is enough reading on there to help you determine what is best for your car.

You will also read about myths of synthetic oil as well as its drawbacks. Far too much to explain here.

what about eneos oil Report Abuse

I like Valvoline.

But seriously they are engineered for racing. So they are OVER ENGINEERED for street cars. And ANY full synthetic oil is more than what you need.

I have Audi A4 1.8t (turbo). And many of these turbo engines been suffering because originally Audi only recommended conventional oil. But since (audi) going with full synthetic (no brand specified), they have largely eliminated the problem.

So go with what ever you like (what ever is on sale).

Good luck...
Motul make some specialised full synthetic oils that sell for up to $80 a litre.

But you'll be fine just using something like Mobil 1 or Shell Helix synthetic in the right weight and grade for your car.
Well acording to all of the research AMSOIL is the best. I use Mobile 1 in all 3 of my vehicles personally because I can get it almost anywhere.
The 'best' synthetic oil is the one you like best, they're all essentially the same when you think about it.
I use Mobil 1 on my 95 5.0

I have been using it since 98.

Good luck!
If yu can afford it Royal Purple is what i use in all my cars
I have heard that amsoil is the best
everyone will have what they like to used so just pick one and stay with it is all you need
