My car burns oil. After I added oil, big white smoke blew from pipe. What is problem? Shd i tow? Or just drive

The car is 98 Kia Sephia. Any estimate on repair costs? I'm financially strapped. Would smoke stop so I can drive without any repairs but add oil every week?My car burns oil. After I added oil, big white smoke blew from pipe. What is problem? Shd i tow? Or just drive
Usually when a car puffs white smoke it means that ntifreeze is getting in the cylinders..Have you checked your coolant level...if low, then probably blown head gasket...If the smoke is black then I would say that you either need to replace the valve stem seals or you might have bottom end damage..like broke rings on the pistons, causing blow by.. Have you check for oil leaks under you car? That might be where the oil is going...And check the pcv system...My car burns oil. After I added oil, big white smoke blew from pipe. What is problem? White smoke usually means a cracked block or a blown head gasket.

Sorry to say both are very expensive. You have coolant getting into your cylinders.

If you keep on driving it you will quickly ruin the engine.

You're looking at at least $2,500.00 to repair.
You could try an oil change and have them use synthetic oil. It costs a little more but it does not burn like regular motor oil. But you will need to get it checked out eventually for seal leaks.
Kia and other korean brand are not so suitable in south Asia because of our road and our fuel, maxcimum fuel station mix kerosine in petrol,so you must sale that car because of most of Indian are crazy for foreign goods.
White smoke is only condensation which is normal. You only need to worry about Blue Smoke (oil burning) and or Black Smoke ( Fuel mixture too rich) Be sure to check oil by dipstick as a gauge may be wrong. Also check for oil leaks. The only time to worry about white smoke is if it smells like anti freeze as this is a sign of a blown head gasket.

Just remember, that its not like you'll be forking over money for an oil change every week. When its all spread out over time, its managable.

My friend put motor oil in my car's brake tank. Is this Bad for the car?

YeahMy friend put motor oil in my car's brake tank. Is this Bad for the car?
You need to completely flush out all of the brake fluid from your system b4 you drive, the car oil( because of the detergents in it) is very corrosive to all of your brake parts especially the rubber parts in the brake components. You need to run at leats a gallon of brake fluid through the entire system.Open all the bleeder screws and pupmp the pedal untilthe fluid is completely gone 5-6 times and then bleed the brakes as normally wouldMy friend put motor oil in my car's brake tank. Is this Bad for the car?
Do not drive your vehicle. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Run, do not walk, to your nearest phone and call a tow truck and have your vehicle transported to the nearest mechanic. If you have depressed the brake pedal the entire brake system is likely contaminated and will require extensive repair including replacement of the master cylinder, wheel cylinders/calipers and total flush of all lines. If you have comprehensive coverage on your auto insurance this is likely a covered loss. One last piece of advice: keep your 'friend' away from your car in the future.
You bet it's bad! The entire brake system should be flushed immediately with fresh brake fluid. Motor oil will ruin all the O rings and seals throughout the brake system. It also will boil because of the heat inside the calipers and wheel cylinders. Brake fluid boils at 525 degrees Fahrenheit motor oil on the other-hand boils between 160 -230 degrees Fahrenheit. This means the car will not stop when the oil starts boiling in the brake system.

Get it done ASAP at any auto repair shop who has a brake flushing system.
yes get a rag and get it out of there now or it will cost you the next thing to do is go get a bottle of brake fluid and bleed the brakes ---hurry cause you can beat thedamage before it haqppens
yes it,s bad! if he has,nt hit the brake yet, tell him to take a rag and get it out and put brake fluid in. if he already hit the brake, he will have to bleed the brakes.
bleed the whole system, all wheels and replce with dot3 brake fluid the motor oil is flamable in high heat brake system
Motor oil will swell up all the rubber parts in the brake system and that's not good.
Hope your friend has lots of money.

  • Why did my mom sit in her car with the hood up while my dad checked the oil and water in her car for her? ?

She was taking my brother and I to school that morning and he checked the oil and water in her car for her while she sat in it with the hood up and why is that and I need 20 answers in all please. Why did my mom sit in her car with the hood up while my dad checked the oil and water in her car for her? ?
Because he was the one checking it, not her. It's crowded under that hood, and it only takes one person to do the job. It's something that men do for women that helps to make them feel loved and looked after: or ';secure';. Security is a built in biological issue with women. A man that doesn't provide a degree of security for ';his woman'; often finds himself without one. Little things like this go a long way in the bonding process between mates. Why did my mom sit in her car with the hood up while my dad checked the oil and water in her car for her? ?
Because it doesn't make sense to jump out of the car. Why would you? You sit in the car so you can hit whatever lever or button is necessary to 'pop the hood' so the hood goes up. Do you jump out of the car at that point? No. Is it fascinating to watch someone check the oil? No. Is it more invigorating to stand on a street or in the driveway than to sit in the car and perhaps read a book or look through your purse or just think about all the things you have planned to do? NO.
Your parents seem to be stuck in the olden days when Dad was Mr. Macho and Mom was too weak and dumb to do things herself. Every female should know how to check all the stuff in her engine and to change her own tire if flat. Guys should know how to iron, sew and cook.
Well son..... If it isn't under the gas cap, most women don't really want to know anything about it. And to tell you the truth, there's allot of men that should leave it alone too.
Awww, oil and water guy! I knew you'd be back! Maybe now you'll finally crack the mystery behind this oil and water business you're so obsessed about. Good luck!
Is there a reason she shouldn't? Seems pretty normal to me. He checks the oil while she waits.
so you are upset that your mom didnt...help him? i think your dad did a gallant thing to help a damsel in distress. go dad! :)
    lol go ask your mom

My car shut off driving down the road earlier, and it seemed to be out of oil. am i screwed?

i added more oil to it and it still won't crank. i thought the engine might be jammed, but it still makes the cranking sound and everything normal so i figure it may be the fuel pump or a fuse. but i can really use an expert's opinion. (its a 95 acura integra)My car shut off driving down the road earlier, and it seemed to be out of oil. am i screwed?
If by ';cranking sound'; you mean the engine is turning over normally and if it sounds just like it would prior to firing up, it will be something not too desperate. Trying to bump start with some help from two or three people might work.My car shut off driving down the road earlier, and it seemed to be out of oil. am i screwed?
If it seized up because of no or very low oil, it might have permanent damage. However, it's possible it'll be drivable again after it cools down, and the seized parts let go of each other. That can take several hours.

I've had seized engines free up after several hours, so it's possible..
What told you it was low on oil? You don't say you looked at the dipstick.

Sounds like you have a maintenance issue. Could be ignition, computer, or fuel pump. You'll need to get it to a garage to have it checked. Too little info in your question to diagnose specifics.

If i was to run my car on hemp or rape oil how much in acres of land would i need to do 10000 miles a year?

just wondering if this biofuel idea is possible in reality,If i was to run my car on hemp or rape oil how much in acres of land would i need to do 10000 miles a year?
';Rape Oil';? what the hell are you talking about????If i was to run my car on hemp or rape oil how much in acres of land would i need to do 10000 miles a year?
we call rape canola now , for obvious reasons, give us more info. like current mpg. crop yield etc. anything is possible that does not violate the laws of physics
    about 8' x 8'.

That's about the space you would get in prison.

    64sq feet.
    check out hempcar.org
I don't think it will work - but, I'll watch for answers. You never know.
What? You would actually waste that much weed?
at 20 MPG 500 acres if one crop a year, 250 acres if 2 crops per year.

It costs less to farm 500 acres than it does to drill oil, but it costs less to refine oil than it does to refine seed.

Overall seed is moe expensive and would be about 20% more expensive for the same milage with no harmfull gas.
For you who don't know what rape oil is. It is the oil from rape seeds For political correctness they changed the name to canola.

Will a pass the maryland emission with a oil leak car?

My car is having the oil leak problem around the timing chain cover. But the emission test is coming. My car is not leaking very badly, only a few drop in every few seconds. Will I pass the Maryland emission test while my car is leaking? Will a pass the maryland emission with a oil leak car?
    Chances are you will pass...

However if ur check engine light is on they will hook u up to thier diagnostic computer and see why it says that, or they could possibly fail you for having a check engine light on?? Either way get that fixed asap! I know its annoying money to have to spend, but it will just be more money the longer you wait!

Take care...GOOD LUCK!Will a pass the maryland emission with a oil leak car?
What does an oil leak have to do with what is burning in your cylinders and coming out of your exhaust pipe?

If you were talking about a ';vehicle inspection';, then you'd fail, but emmissions? You're probably OK.

It's just a darn revenue trap anyway.
