I just bought a used car and am wondering if i should change the transmission oil please help.?

I had it checked by a mechanic at strauss and he said that there was a leak from the transmission gasket so i took it to 2 other mechanics and they looked at it and said there is nothing wrong but when the car is parked it does not leak any oil now i am confused?I just bought a used car and am wondering if i should change the transmission oil please help.?
jack the car up and look at the tranny pan and you will be able to see if it's leaking from the pan gasket, if it is you could tighten the bolts a little to see if the leak stops, if the car has 50,000 miles on it I would change the tranny fluid and filter anyhow and when you do that you will be replacing the pan gasket anyway.I just bought a used car and am wondering if i should change the transmission oil please help.?
Here is the right answer and it will make sense to you.

Drive the vehicle to a good operating temperature. About five mile should do. When you get back home park on a dry clean surface with no oil or trans fluid stains. Now when you park after driving the vehicle shift into reverse and drive and first and second. Then turn put it in park and turn the car of. Let the vehicle sit over night. When you wake up move the vehicle and look where it was parked if you don't see any oil or trans fluid on the ground you are good. Don't believe everything a mechanic says they are out to get your money. Now your oil will make a black stain and your transmission will make a dark stain as well BUT rub your finger on the stain and see if it is red. Trans fluid is red where oil will be black. This will fix any doubts you have...
it could be a rear main leak which will only leak while driving---not from pressure though. I would drain and refill trans and just keep an eye on level. do not flush the trans though. was it oil or ATF fluid? rear main will be engine oil-not atf fluid ... just keep an eye one levels until you know what it is doing.
leaks can come and go if in doubt change it out . what type of car is it ? most pan gaskets are not to difficult to change, if its a front seal leak that can really be a drag, i say go buy a chilton repair book and it will walk you right into how its done.
Peace of mind is a wonderful thing, if it will make you feel better do it.

Try this, find an uphill parking space with no oil spots and park there over night, move the car and look for spots, no spots = no leaks.
The most often neglected preventive maintenance on vehicles with auto transmission is the fluid and filter change.I would change both on a used vehicle, especially if you plan to keep it for awhile.
ABSOLUTELY not! The first guy was either a moron, or trying to rip you off. Don't ever go there again!
