I have a 1997 Saturn, should I be using synthetic oil in it since it is an older car?

Synthetic oil is better but regular oil changes will do just fine.Chang oil every 5000km or 3000 miles and your engine will stay clean and healthy. Synthetic oil will last longer and hold its lubricating properties longerI have a 1997 Saturn, should I be using synthetic oil in it since it is an older car?
It wouldn't hurt but if the car leaks or uses oil you're just wasting your money. Instead of using a full synthetic oil try one of those synthetic blends, they're cheaper and provide better protection than regular oil.I have a 1997 Saturn, should I be using synthetic oil in it since it is an older car?
If you have always used regular oil then continue to do so, change it every 3000 miles and you will be fine, if the engine burns or leaks oil between oil changes as many ten year old engines do, why replace with synthetic?
why would you watn to. Synthetic oils are highly overrated. All you need to do is use a good major brand 5w30 oil with a GF-4 spec and change it every 5000 miles and you will be fine. Synthetic oils still get dirty and the additives still wear out so you cant extend the intervel. Also synthetics are designed for cars like the Corvette, new Caddilac Northstars, and most European cars. They do hold up better to extreme heat and cold but that is all you would get. The conventional oils they produce today are so clean they can almost pass the synthetic specs. If you want to spend $3 more per qt then go ahead but I would not advize it. Just keep changing it on time and make sure to check the oil about every 1000 miles Saturns are known to use more oil than most engines. Most of my customers come in at 3-5k miles and the oil is at least 2 quarts low.
You can if you want to have a bit more time between oil changes. There is no compelling reason to do so though.
If you car has any seeping or leaking oil seals a synthetic oil will find it fast.
