it depends on how too much oil!. if say 2 or more qts.too much, you have a chance of blowing the oil seals out or a gasket. its better if its down a little, then too much.If u put to much oil in a car will the car be ok?
Too much oil can damage an engine, depending on your definition of too much. A quart too much? You'll probably be fine, anything over that can start problems. When the oil level gets too high, the crank can splash it in the pan, this makes it foam, the pump cannot pump foam, and at that point, bad things happen. I once drained 4 *gallons* of oil from a customers engine. His daughter borrowed it for school, he told her to check the oil level when she filled up, she didn't know how, so she just added a quart at every fill up. When he brought the car to me, it was barely running, and oil was leaking from everywhere. We ended up rebuilding the engine.
Guess you have your answer. Add a quart every time she filled up is hillarious. Had to give a thumbs up for that.
Too much oil is just as bad as having not enough. If you have the oil over some of the moving parts it makes it frothy like a milkshake and the oil looses its grade. If its just a litle bit over things should be ok.
If it is not way too much,if it is way too much it will cause damage,and or smokey situation
As mentioned, it depends on how much is too much. The oil can start to foam is there is way too much. You can simply drain a little.
1/2 quart prob ok...more is bad....blows out gasgets and seals and makes oil foam,,,burning up oil pump and bearings....
Depends on how much too much, as the engine relies on a certain oil pressure. Too much or too little can result in serious problems. The manufacturers build in a certain error factor but be careful not to put in a lot too much. Good luck
