if you pull a trailer or drag race that's a good idea
but otherwise 5,000 is okWhy change car engine oil at 3000 miles ?
Because it breaks down and provides less and less protection to your motor.
Edit: Two thumbs-down? That's hilarious. Only a child or a moron thinks that oil doesn't reduce after millions of crank revolutions in all that heat and pressure.
What would happen if you never changed your oil? It would eventually REDUCE to the point where your engine would seize because it had no lubrication - not because it was contaminated.Why change car engine oil at 3000 miles ?
If that is what the manufacturer recommends, they know what works best for their engines. Furthermore, if you have major engine problems and have not changed oil on the recommended schedule, they could easily argue that the problems are your fault and not cover you under the new-car warranty.
Around every 3000 miles oil begins to break down. When your oil starts to break down it causes you engine to run hotter. Also when the oil starts to thin out engine parts are subjected to premature wear. Even if your car it parked, you should change you oil every 3mo. Long term gain.
The oil does not actually ';break down';, it gets contaminated with various other stuff such as water/gas/carbon and various metal particles. This decreases the effectiveness of the oil and thus the need to change it on a regular basis, 3 to 5000 miles.
because the burnt fuel/exhaust gases are trapped in the oil.after awhile the heat will break down the viscosity of the oil,thus robbing the engine of the lubrication it needs.change at 3,000-5,000 mile intervals.
Oil not only lubricates it picks up particles of engine damaging dirt and particles. That's why you change it. It cleans the engine.
Depends on what the makers recommend. I have a ford focus 1.6 and fords say change the oil and filter every year or 12000 miles, which ever comes first.
Keeps the oil comp in $ %26amp; what does the manuf- say%26gt; If on a trip you can stretch it %26gt; My Dodge diesel%26gt; dealer save 4500 M%26gt; But Dodge tech service say it's 10,000 %26gt;So your call%26gt;
so you can take out the old black oil out of your car change at 5000 miles
Because of heat, friction, type of fuel used, burnt gases...etc
Keeps the oil fresh and helps remove any particles of crap that are in the oil.
