After how many miles should i change the oil in my car, and change the filter.?

The old school is to change engine oil and filter every 3,000 miles or three months whichever comes first.

As the oil technology has improved, the interval and mileage can be longer. For instance, Toyota recommends to change oil and filter every 5,000 miles or five months whichever comes first. No more than 5,000 miles. For a time Toyota recommended to change oil every 6,000 miles, but then they reduced that mileage.

Also it depends on how and where you drive the car. If mainly short trips or the weather extremely hot or dusty driving environment, oil changes should be more often.

In short, change engine oil and filter in 3,000 - 5,000 miles and no longer than five months. After how many miles should i change the oil in my car, and change the filter.?
6,000 miles or twelve months, you will need to change both oil and filter at the same time, also depending on what car it is you may also need to replace the sump plug washer.

you should be able to get all the info you need from the service book or if you don't have one you can download from the manufactures websiteAfter how many miles should i change the oil in my car, and change the filter.?
For the UK, most manufacturers now recommend 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. Personally I do mine every 5,000 or 6 months, it's a cheap enough investment. Always do the filter at the same time.

I don't know why Americans appear to have 3,000 miles as a figure, perhaps it's a throwback to poorer oils or big, dirty engines. Do it according to where you are.
diesel or petrol?

it used to be about 6000 miles for diesel, up to 12000 miles for petrol, but diesel engines have changed since then. Every second service would have been a ';major'; service.

Best place to start is the Haynes manual for whatever car you have. It should tell you exactly what to service and how often.
been driving since 1964 and owned a car since 1964 and have always changed the oil and filter and petrol filter every year, and never had any bother with any of the cars, also changed the brake fluid every 2 nd year, along with the gearbox and rear axle oil
Most european cars will have an interval of 10-12 thousand miles or a year, whichever you get to first. But check in your handbook or with a dealer for the exact interval for your car.
3 months, or 3,000 miles. change the filter every time you change the oil, it is only an extra 3 dollars.
look inthe manual . modern cars is between 8k and 10k some skodas can go up to 22k my advice to be on safe is to change every 8k oil and filter and use an engine flush first
After 3,000 miles, oil and filter.
It all depends on how many miles you put on the car and what kind of car it is.
3000 to 5000
about every 10 k
3k to 5k miles depends on how you drive and how much.
6k max but if you intend to keep it mint from new make it 5k
