When an engine is running, circulation of oil is needed to lubricate and to avoid friction of metal contact inside engine moving parts. Therefore, aside from absence of water in a radiator, bad oil pump is also one cause of car engine overheating. Can a bad Oil Pump make my car over heat?
yesCan a bad Oil Pump make my car over heat?
leela,
if you had a bad oil pump, the car would start knocking for lack of oil. Be serious, its someplace else. Try flushing your radiator and look at your water pump. Some time the blades get worn off your water pump and it causes your motor to overheat. Even a collapsed hose. Anyway, why do you even suspect your oil pump?
Possible, but very small chance of it. Also, if the oil pump was the cause for overheating, it would be because of very low oil pressure. Your oil light would be on and you'd be causing MAJOR engine damage, if it didn't lock up immediately.
No, your problem is either thermstat, low coolant, water pump, or blocked coolant system.
yes but odds are 99 to 1 its 1 thermostate..2 waterpump...3.hoses bad...4.bad tune up..5.clogged exaust system..6 cracked head/head gasget
if its not delivering oil to the engine parts, like the valves, it can overheat.
Uhhhhh........Not really.
A bad water pump could though.
ADDED:
If you had a bad oil pump, the engine wouldn't run long enough to overheat. It would sieze up way before it got hot.
no, but a bad water pump can.
