Open the glove compartment. Inside you will find a booklet call the ';Owners Manual.'; Read it.My TL says my car has 70 percent oil life left, but i passed 3000 mile .what do you think?
This depends on what type of oil that you have used for the oil change. If you have used the 100% FULL SYNTHETIC OIL then yes it can last twice as long as the reg. ones. But for the TL i would use NOTHING BUT FULL SYNTHETIC.My TL says my car has 70 percent oil life left, but i passed 3000 mile .what do you think?
I drive a 2004 TL and always change the oil every 3K to 5K. The owners manual says you can go longer as i recall, but oil is the life blood of the engine so always good to change it often. It also really depends on other factors such as driving conditions and such. If those are all highway miles you can stretch it out more. My driving is 60% highway and 40% city streets.
3,000 mile oil changes are no longer recommended. Wait until the oil life gets down to 15% or even lower. At 15% it will also give you a code of what service is needed. I own a acura and wait until it is at 10%. You can get this information in the owner's manual.
Change it, Why even consider taking a chance??? an Oil change is the cheapest and most important maintenance you can do
I drive an '06 TL.
Indeed, I'd check the manual that comes with your car (glove box) for specs %26amp; maintenance intervals..it's your car's 'Bible'...
The service maitenance 'minder' dash display has been very acurate for me so far (I have 16K on the odo), so gosh, I'm not sure what to make of your situation...your display should read having a substantially lower oil life left.
I would not change your oil until the odo squares with what your manual says. Also, the engineering intent for many new cars is to recommend that owners do not change their brand new car's oil prematurely. The oil the factory installs is a special 'break-in' oil that is specifically formulated to help your new engine enjoy a long life. I'd expect a GOOGLE search for 'break-in oil' will confirm this.
Once you've changed your oil, you'll have a choice to use factory spec oil, or some kind of synthetic. Personally, I use MOBIL 1 Synthetic, because I'm an outside salesman in So Cal who's schedule doesn't always allow me to perform service around exacting schedules. Synthetic provides a 'cushion' for heavy mileage drivers should you end up exceeding the recommended milage service interval by a small margin.
oil is getting better but your best bet is to still stick with 3000. bettr safe now than sorry later. no oil is good for 10k.
Read your owners manual. You may have a 10K oil change requirement.
Well if ur car has passed only 3000 mile that means tht ur car is brand new and not a second hand one, i would prefer you to use the oil given by the company itself. Just dont trust on these outside mechanics no matter how big their garage is. Just go in to the showroom from where you bought it and get it checked their. Well acura is a very nice company so it can support oil usage upto 4000 - 4500 miles but still prefer to go to the company
remember never trust on these road side mechanics. take care.
Just any 5w30 will do.
I never listen to the trip computer on the TL...doesn't know what it's talking about sometimes. And the stupid GPS will tell me to turn left when clearly it's just a ditch, lol.
if you depend on lights and a computer for your cars need then its not going to make it....... yes 3000 is just the right time to change the oil you can wait has long as you like but its just best to do it more offen than not
Your call, do you trust the engineers who designed and extensively tested your vehicle? vs. anonymous internet advice?
