Yes. You should check the oil level every now and then. You will need to remove the dipstick from the engine and the level marker will show how much oil is in the engine. If it is low you will need to add more.
Is there someone there who can show you this? A relative of friend? My dad taught me :o)Do I have to add oil to my car? even though we dooil changes?
You should check it regularly, some cars use more oil than others and you may need to add some oil between changes. Just remember that the oil does 60% of the cooling, so you want it to be full all the time to protect your engine.
You should check your cars ';fluids'; weekly if it's older and monthly if new. You may have to add oil every day if you're driving an old car with head or ring problems, or perhaps only once in a great while if your car's in good shape, %26amp; perhaps never if it's in real good shape! You should change oil every 2 to 3 months or every 2k to 3k miles -- it will keep your cars engine NEW for two or three times longer. If you ingnor your car's oil, other fluids, air filters, tire pressure, hoses, etc. you risk brake failure, blowing the engine, over-heating (which will also ruin your engine), and crashes that may be deadly!!!
Have a full service gas station or a guy you trust teach you how to check all these things, including how to change a tire -- it could save your life one day !!!
There are special ways these things must be checked so you should have someone very knowledgable teach you -- go to a FULL SERVE STATION.
Oil must be checked when engine is COLD. Transmission fluid must be checked when engine is running. You need to check the BRAKE FLUID %26amp; how much rubber is on your tires and also check to see what pressure YOUR tires require and check to see if you have any bubbles on your tires -- could be deadly !!!!! NEVER, EVER BUY RE-TREADS, my baby %26amp; I were nearly killed because 38 yrs ago when we were young, dumb, %26amp; very poor my husband put re-treads on my car !!! Thank GOD a semi-truck driver saw it and jumped out of his truck at a red-light to tell me !!! He startled me nearly to death, but I pulled into the store where we got them -- just a mile away, and saw a HUUUUGGGGEEEE BUBBLE on my tire, if this wonderful, caring man hadnt warned me -- my baby %26amp; I would surely have been seriously injured or killed as a BLOW-OUT was imminent, probably another 2miles of driving and it would've blown out!!! I drove that 1 mile to the tire store very slowly and in the slow lane with my flashers on !!!! I went in very angry %26amp; upset -- SAYING, ';mY BABY %26amp; i WERE ALMOST IN A DEADLY ACCIDENT'; %26amp; asking them how they could even dream of selling such things %26amp; they immediately put new tires on my car -- FREE OF CHARGE !!!! So, NEVER, EVER SKIMP on your TIRES -- they are ALL that's BETWEEN YOU %26amp; DEATH !!!!!!!!!!!
aLSO LEARN TO CHECK YOUR HOSES REGULARLY as they can blow out %26amp; ruin your engine, with a regular check by you %26amp; a update (oil, filters -- air %26amp; oil) every 2k to 3k miles your car should last for years %26amp; years %26amp; years !!!!
TAKE CARE of YOUR CAR %26amp; it will take care OF YOU !!!!
only if it is low, if it started leaking oil after an oil change from a lube shop take it back and have them fix it they should do this for free because they would have caused the leak by either over tightening the drain plug or oil filter or not making them tight enough, if it is leaking out of the oil filter they might have forgotten to check and see if the gasket from the old oil filter was still on the block and this would cause a leak.
Make sure you change your oil every 3,000 miles and you shouldn't have to worry about anything, but if you are worried you can go to any gas station and ask whoever pumps your gas to check the oil, and they will be able to tell you if you are low on oil. If you don't have any gas stations near you where they pump the gas for you then go to any service station and ask them to help you see if you are low on oil and show you how to check it. It is really easy to check how much oil is in your car, but its something I would have to physically show you, but am sure someone at a service station or gas station can help you. But to answer your question, you sometimes do have to add oil, just depends on the kind of car you have and how you run it... :)
somewhere in the engine bay, you will find a dipstick
its a rod of metal that you pull out
they normally have 2 marks on them
the oil level must remain between the 2 levels
in my peugeot that has done 177thousand miles
i dont need to top up between changes but lesser cars that are a bit worn and either leak or burn oil may need topping up with a few pints to maintain the level
