We checked our oil level in my Nissan Pulsar LX 2001 it was low, so we placed Mobile car engine oil into the vehicle, then we left it as we were visting family. a couple of hours later we decided to leave my wife turned the car on and all this white smoke came storming out of the tail pipe. As soon as my wife accelerated the white smoke was heavy but then when she took her foot off it died down. We have never expereinced this before and its a first, we had our car engine reconditioned and is only 6months old. Can over filling the car oil cause this too happen aswell? Is it safe to drive only to our mechanics?
Thx all in advance for your helpIs filling your car engine oil with the wrong car oil bad?
If you overfilled your engine sump, yes, you could get oil past the oil control and compression rings, or into your engine top end through your EGR valve. You would see blue white smoke from the tail pipe, and probably smell the odor of burning oil.
This is detrimental to the engine, and can foul spark plugs, or even cause additional mechanical problems in the engine. Check the oil level with the dipstick, and drain excess oil, before restarting the engine. If in doubt, have the car towed to a service location. Is filling your car engine oil with the wrong car oil bad?
yes it can!. overfilling can cause your oil to foam and go past the oil rings.the best thing you can do is drain the oil out and change it. that car shouldnt hold more then 4 and a half or 5 qts.
you should never mix different types of oil due to viscosity.
over filling the oil can cause lots of problems.
if you cannot change your own oil you need to take it in and have this taken care of.
mobil 1 is our pic, but your mechanic can suggest the right product for your vehicle.
The type of oil wont make it smoke but overfilling it definately will. Go get the oil changed asap.
Over filling will definitly cause that to happen. It will cause oil to over flow into your valve body causing the white smoke you experienced.
There really isn't any wrong kind of oil for a car, just different weights. Check to see what you vehicle says to put in it. Even if you put 10w40 in it instead of 5w30 you are not going to destroy the engine.
When you check the oil and put more in, check it again to make sure it is on the hash marks of the dipstick.
Yes you can overfill the oil and this will cause problems. The white smoke you mentioned could be other things like leaking anit-freeze. When oil or anti-freeze gets into the combustion chamber it comes out of the tailpipe as white smoke. Each has its own smell though.
Before you do anything check the oil level again. Check the coolant/anti-freeze level too. If both look good then listen for sounds as the engine starts. If no sounds liking ticking or metalic are coming out then I'd drive it.
