Veg oil in the car how safe is it to use in a old diesel 1997 reg?

it depends on the type of diesel engineVeg oil in the car how safe is it to use in a old diesel 1997 reg?
You need to have a second tank installed to run off straight vegetable oil. Warm the engine up on regular diesel, switch to the veggie tank. Switch back to the diesel tank before you shut the engine off to purge the fuel lines and injectors. It will not start on veggie oil without preheating.Veg oil in the car how safe is it to use in a old diesel 1997 reg?
They say that is the next renewable ';BIO FUEL'; I have no clue. I have only ever heard possitive results and that your exhaust makes everyone behind you hungry
It depends on the type of car. the diesel lubricates the fuel pump, veg oil doesn't have the same lubricating properties. some types of fuel pumps will be destroyed very quickly this way.

Also, in cold temperatures, the veg oil can gel up, and no fuel pump will be able to work.
A local maintenance man here has a deal with the restaurants. They supply him with all their used cooking oil and he cuts their grass. He burns it in an old 60s model diesel chevy van. He says about a third of his fuel is this old oil but he does have a machine which filters it first.
just gotta follow the rules

heat

purge
