Kick start no longer catches after my bro put car oil in the enduro.?

So basically it was ';leaking'; oil so he put some car oil into the engine and then he claims the next time he sat on it the kick start stopped working. It doesn't catch at all, it just goes right down. It wont push start either, but in order to diagnose the overall lack of startage I need to get my poor kickstart to catch! Anyone have an idea what might have happened/what needs to be done? Thanks a lot

It's a 250 motorcycle.Kick start no longer catches after my bro put car oil in the enduro.?
It wasn't the oil. I can guarantee that. You're going to have to pull the cover and see what broke.

If it won't start by push starting it, you can be sure it won't start with the kick starter.Kick start no longer catches after my bro put car oil in the enduro.?
1st answer is good, it wasnt the oil. Something just snapped, maybe as simple as a clip or something, just remove cover and check it out.
the kickstart on a bike is usually a pretty simple mechanism as well as easily gotten to. the oil most likely had nothing to do with it. my guess is that either the return spring or the catch that it attaches to is broken. unless of course the gear is extremely stripped out and isn't catching at all. but i'm not sure how that would have happened except through some serious maltreatment. just remove the sidecover [it's probably an oil containing cover so drain the oil right away since it's mixed anyway] the whole mechanism should be in full view. like i said the mechanism is pretty simple and you should be able to notice what would be wrong. did he describe what he meant by 'stopped working'? that is a good clue as to what could have happened.
Just guessing, here, but unless he poured ';car'; GEAR OIL in the case, the use of ';car oil'; won't screw with your clutches(by your statement, the obvoius problem). Sounds like you need to pull your clutch cover off, and take a look at what happened.
yeah its broken i woulnt lend your brother it anymore. sorry dude.
